Case Study: Advancing Healthy and Energy-Efficient Housing in Georgia's House District 98
The Energy Equity Explorer (EEE) tool was used in a collaborative project led by the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), the Gwinnett Housing Corporation (GHC), and State Representative Marvin Lim to address energy and housing challenges in Georgia's House District 98. The project identified significant energy burdens among low- and moderate-income households, with many facing unaffordable energy costs exceeding 6-10% of their income. Additionally, the analysis highlighted environmental vulnerabilities, such as limited green spaces and poor air quality, which impact community health and resilience. Engaging stakeholders from various sectors, the project developed a strategic plan to leverage federal and local funding, improve energy efficiency, and enhance access to healthy housing, culminating in a resource guide and policy playbook to support long-term, cross-sector solutions for community development.
